Poet Warrior

This experimental punk bands origins go way back to the 90’s when the singer Jon Nigh(aka Poet Warrior) and friend Jake Kilmer(guitarist) would get together as young teenagers for some guitar jams. Both would noodle on their acoustic guitars until they made a song. Unfortunetly they didn’t make more than a few songs and even ended going slightly different paths into high school and soon after despite still being close friends. It wasn’t until 2007 when Jon gave Jake a call and showed him the new set of songs he had been working on by himself at home with his digital recorder. Jake went on to layer drums, bass and some other instruments to Jon’s new tunes, which turned out to be the actual birth, or in another way, a re-birth of “Poet Warrior”. The debut album which was released in fall 2008. Soon after they recruited drummer Cody Clark and bassist Jeff Clemmer(old school MRAfia coder and friend) for local shows. The bands sophmore album (“Whatever”) has a more full band approach and is rich with distored guitars, loud drums and intense vocals. “Usually our songs start with Jon coming up with an idea on the guitar and then I kinda form it into a full song for us. Jon’s ideas are very unpredictable and thats what we try to capture togeher as a band.” says guitars Jake.
